The Type 301 5-Piece Block Set contains:
- 10" Chef Knife
- 7 1/4" Santoku Knife
- 3 1/4" Paring Knife
- 5" Utility Knife
- Guminoki Wood Block
The Type 301 10" Chef Knife is an all-purpose knife. The the chef's knife is curved to allow the cook to rock the knife on the cutting board for a more precise cut. The broad and heavy blade also serves for chopping. The chefs knife can be used for many culinary functions including slicing, chopping, dicing, and mincing.
The Type 301 7 1/4" Santoku Knife is a general-purpose knife of the Japanese kitchen. The word "Santoku" refers to the three cutting tasks which the knife performs well: slicing, dicing, and mincing. The Santoku's blade and handle are designed to work in harmony by matching the blade's width/weight to the weight of blade tang and handle. The Japanese Santoku is a well-balanced knife.
The Type 301 3 1/4" Paring Knife is a small knife with a plain edge blade. It is ideal for peeling and other small or intricate work (such as de-veining a shrimp, removing the seeds from a jalapeño, 'skinning' or cutting small garnishes). It is designed to be an all-purpose knife, similar to a chef's knife, except smaller.
The Type 301 5" Utility Knife is a medium size knife that can be used for a myriad of tasks. The utility knife is sized between a chef's knife and paring knife. Useful for for smaller precision tasks like peeling, trimming and slicing small fruits and vegetables.
Guminoki Wood Block is designed to hold up to 8 of your favorite Chroma type 301 knives. The largest blade length is 10″.
The handle of the CHROMA type 301 – Design by F.A. Porsche is constructed of stainless steel, and the blade is made of high-quality Japanese 301 steel. The blade of each knife is carefully razorsharp sharpened by the hand of a master.
The advantages Type 301 are:
- An ergonomic handle – designed by F.A. Porsche working with the chef of the decade, Jörg Wörther
- A metal “pearl” that clearly demarcates the end of the handle, for better control when cutting
- A seamless perfection and hygienic transition from blade to handle
- A special grinding method is used, so the knife stays sharp longer and is easier to sharpen
- That it is beloved by famous gourmet chefs
- The out of the box sharpness is one of the best in the industry
Note the following instructions to insure the knife remains in optimal condition for years to come:
Never place the knife in the dishwasher. Hand wash and dry after every use.
Regularly sharpen the knife using the original Type 301 whetstone. Under no circumstances should a sharpening steel be used, as it will damage the blade.
Store the knife in a safe, secure manner, for example, in a knife block so the blade is not left exposed.
Only use wooden or plastic cutting boards, never marble or glass when cutting with a Type 301.
Only use the knife to prepare food. Do not use it to cut frozen foods, bones, or as a utility knife.
